Apprenticeships
-
What is the apprenticeship program?
The apprenticeship program is a commitment to train and introduce a new generation of technicians and artists to the event technology field. Apprentices will shadow professionals, learning directly from them while also getting to meet and grow connections in the live event industry.
-
Are apprenticeships paid?
Yes! Apprentices start at $100/5 hr or $200/10 hour calls. Pay will increase as their skills are vetted. The apprenticeship is aimed at connecting young professionals to future job prospects as well, including through Griffin DeWitt Designs.
-
How does the program impact diversity and inclusion?
At its core, the apprenticeship program is aimed at introducing underrepresented people to the event technology field. Outreach is focused on over 40 local schools and organizations, with a focus on recruiting people of color and women into the field.
-
Is the apprenticeship a guarantee of work?
No. Apprentices are called for gigs on a freelance basis as they are available. Gig calls will be tailored to the apprentice’s career interests. The apprenticeship is not a replacement for a full or part time job.
-
What requirements does an apprentice have to meet?
The program is aimed at upcoming professionals. There is no education or experience requirement. Apprentices are expected to learn most skills on the job. The primary requirement is the correct attitude. In addition, apprentices should be eligible for work within the U.S. and have reliable transportation (this can include public transit).
-
Who should apply for the apprentice program?
The program is for anyone interested in event production or related arts. Prospective lighting designers, videographers, directors, audio engineers, producers, and others are all encouraged to apply! The work will be tailored to fit their ambitions and be pulled from work Griffin DeWitt Designs in engaged in.
